Margaret Peters, the newly elected LAABP treasurer, has been a member since 2008. She brings to the organization a wealth of experience, having worked with another City membership organization (ACEBSA), as recording secretary, early in her career. She’s also a recent past treasurer of the Empowerment Congress Southwest, a certified City of Los Angeles Neighborhood Council, and a past treasurer of the South Los Angeles Alliance of Neighborhood Councils. Margaret is also one of three representatives for Council District 8 on the LAX Community Noise Roundtable. Margaret has been a City employee for 28 years, currently as a Senior Police Service Representative II with the Los Angeles Police Department, assigned to the Metropolitan Communications Center. As a tireless, self-taught advocate for numerous causes over the years, which include autism and social equity, Margaret states her decision to become a LAABP Board member is rooted in her continuing desire to motivate, educate and empower the masses and to give back the knowledge and experience she’s gained over nearly three decades of City service to current and future African American employees.
